In a delayed crowning of the inaugural Dirty Deltan of the Week, the Greenwood Country Club's Men's 3.0 Tennis Team shares this week's prize. Not only did the infamous group handily defeat the Indianola team 4-1 last night, they also bonded in team spirit with Hot Damn shots at the team's home-base, the Flatland Grill.

In response to his team's success over Indianola, Head Coach Martin Dyotte stated, "I am proud of deez guys for playing their hearts out. They are the reason I coach the game of tennis. Now less pick up all deez balls, you silly space-cadets!"

The team's victory was dedicated to tonight's traveling cheerleaders, Toni Sorrell, Robyn Jones and Swayze Fisher. (R.D. Seawright, the team's usual mascot, was sick with a cold and noticeably absent. She was missed dearly.)

After the celebratory festivities at the Flatland, the party was then moved to the Levee Lounge, with everyone's favorite beer-slinger, Peggy, hosting the all-you-can-sing karaoke event. After a lousy rendition of "Man of Constant Sorrow" by five drunk bastards, a Dan Landers wannabe attempted to cover Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." This was the low-point of the evening.

To kick things up a notch, Toni and I sang "Islands in the Stream" (terribly, I might add...) and Austin and I sang "American Pie" by Don McLean, followed by a reprise of Rehab's version of "Gin and Juice."

Ms. Jo Bright, proprietor of the Flatland Grill, shared a dance with me and cheered her singing tennis team along as they played tunes from the juke. Awful Austin was designated the team's official deejay and, as a result, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers were the bands of choice for the remainder of the evening.

The night was cut short with a half-hearted promise of "Late Night at Stewart's" and an uneventful ride home. After all was said and done, it was just another Tuesday night in the Delta...

In related news, team co-captain and all-American badass Billy Dunn turned 42 last night. A few toasts and more than enough body shots were taken in his honor. Happy Birthday, Billy.
