Weekend Roundup: Double Decker

This weekend took me to Oxford, Mississippi in search of some great live music at Double Decker Arts Festival on Oxford's historic Square. Too bad the only great music I saw was inside The Library Bar & Grill, and not the free music provided by the festival.

The Kudzu Kings, originally of Oxford, performed to a sold-out crowd of over 1 million people at The Library. Guitarist emeritus George McConnell of Widespread Panic fame played in with the band and was the highlight of the evening.

Also, since it was raining and we were at the home of Ole Miss, I can honestly say that there were more North Face parkas per capita inside The Library last night than anywhere else on the face of the earth in all of history, period. But I digress.

Following the fifteen dollar event, the Greenwood crew made the journey to David Swider's house, just a block off the Square, for a late night to (not) remember. We made up a new drinking game called 7-11-Doubles and played it entirely too long.

All in all, the weekend was a great break from the Greenwood usual, although many of Greenwood's usual suspects were in attendance...
