Friday is Last Day to Register for Primary

This Friday, May 5, will be the last day to register for the Democratic Party primary election on Tuesday, June 6.

There will be no Republican primary, as all Republican candidates are running unopposed for their party's nomination. As such, all Greenwoodians will have the opportunity and are encouraged to cast their vote in the primary election, regardless of prior political affiliation.

The Democratic candidates who are opposing Republican Senator Trent Lott for the United States Senate are:

*Bill Bowlin
*Erik Fleming
*James O'Keefe
*Catherine M. Starr

The Democratic contenders vying to unseat incumbent Bennie Thompson in the 2nd Congressional District are:

*Dorothy "Dot" Benford
*Chuck Espy
*Bennie G. Thompson

Republican Mayor Yvonne Brown of Tchula is running for her party's nomination unopposed.

If you are not registered to vote or need to transfer your registration information, please download the voter registration form here, fill it out and mail it to the Leflore County Circuit Clerk's office by Friday, May 5, at the following address:
