Late Letters to the Editor

Following are two letters to the editor that have gone unpublished due to a lack of attention on my part. My apologies to Mr. Reed and to those who have gone without his pithy and clever opinions.

The Patriot Act a Plus: 5/17/06
If possessing my phone records will help the president, General Hayden, and the CIA in the war on terrorism, they are welcome to them, for it's certain that if this enemy (dedicated to America's annihilation) succeeds, I'll no longer have phone records, nor a phone, nor privacy rights, nor anything else.

Rumsfeld an Effective Leader: 4/22/06
The reasons a handful of retired generals don't like Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld have less to do with how his authoritarian, in-your-face, never-suffer-fools-gladly manner offends their politically correct sensibilities and more to do with their painful certainty that, were they in his place, they could never perform as well as he does in providing what this country must have in dealing with an enemy dedicated to America's annihilation: strong, effective leadership.
