Wild Game Cookout Pics and Review

Various alluvians pose for pictures at last night's Wild Game Cookout on Adams Street.

If you had driven down West Adams last night at about eight o'clock, you would have thought someone had either died or just gotten married. With cars lining the streets for an entire city block, it was obvious that something important was going on. Thankfully, there were no deaths associated with the cars. Instead, it was once again time for the annual Wild Game Cookout.

Thanks to the hard work and proper planning of hosts Matt Finke, Ray Nillsen, Matthew Hicks and Etta Strickland, this year's cookout went off without a hitch. Everything from stuffed venison to grilled pheasant to BBQ'ed squirrel was served and the sides of Southern Living baked beans, bean-stuffed burritos and hashbrown casserole (just to name a few) were exceptional.

So was the Jagermeister, Blue Vodka and Hot Damn that was freely flowing at the event.

An estimated 100 people attended this year's festivities and comments overheard led me to believe that this was the best one to date. Although it was my first year in attendance, I can honestly say that it was one of the best parties I have been to in a while and a great kickoff to a fun weekend in Greenwood!

I will be eagerly awaiting my invitation about this time next year. And if I don't get one, I'm gonna show up anyway! I wouldn't have missed it for the world...
