The Delta Dirt Duo Bids Farewell

The Delta Dirt Duo, Thomas Gregory and R.D. Seawright, pictured with William Faulkner's historical marker in Oxford. Unfortunately for our readers, we have moved on to greener pastures.

It is no secret that my dedication to The Delta Dirt has fallen by the wayside. After a fizzle at a previous blog, I thought I could resurrect my passion with the help of another writer. Now that R.D. has moved to Oxford and/or Holly Springs, there is no one to help me fill the electronic pages of the Dirt.

Combine that with a real job (that pays!), volunteer efforts with River to the Rails and local campaigns, preparation to take the GRE/GMAT/Broker's License Exam, application to graduate school, the arrival of grant application season, etc. and you can see that I am hard-pressed to find a spare moment of time to dedicate to the Dirt.

And it does take time to write the good stuff. Hours. Days, even. These things don't just happen by themselves, you know.

So, instead of leading my readership on like a mirage in the desert, I have chosen to take the high road and end it altogether. I know that Maury will appreciate my honesty, as she can now safely refrain from checking for updates every five minutes.

It has been a pleasure to share with you our travels and interests. Although they were, at times, a little outlandish, we did have a lot of fun! And for all the steady readers of The Delta Dirt, we cannot thank you enough for bothering to read what we have had to say... we could not have received 21,450 hits in over six months without your interest.

Although we shall miss each and every one of you, I do hope that I will see you all again in another time and place. And rest assured that if I ever get my tests taken, volunteer work behind me, accepted to graduate school, applications submitted, and start writing again, I will surely let you know! In the meantime, Godspeed.

Your faithful and fearless editors,
Thomas and R.D.
