Fellow Flatlander: Robyn Jones

Robyn Allison Jones was born on August 21, 1977 to Becky and Buddy Jones of Greenwood. A longtime Greenwood native, Robyn moved back home to work for John Richard Collection. She was recently promoted to Senior Graphic Designer at John Richard. Robyn is an artist by hobby and her work in paintings and photography can be seen throughout her house. She will also have a booth at the upcoming River to the Rails Festival in downtown Greenwood on Saturday, April 21st, so stop by and mention the Fellow Flatlander to recieve a 2% discount!

A 1995 graduate of Pillow Academy, Robyn attended Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Communications and Photography. At Union, Robyn began collecting Chinese fortune cookies, a hobby she maintains to date with her most recent one collected at Mark and Tish's Chinese New Year Party last month. Don't ask what her fortune read. Robyn is a familiar face around town and can often be seen hosting patio parties and crawfish cookouts at her newly renovated home on Adams Street.

1. First car: 1992 two-door Ford Explorer Sport. I think I had it maybe a month. My cars changed frequently because my parents would sell what I was driving, go figure.

4. Favorite pet: Jonesy, my long-haired Mini Dauschund
5. Favorite album: Ryan Adams or Patty Griffin. I can’t pick just one album.
6. Coolest road trip: Grand Canyon camping trip Spring Break of 2000.
7. Worst date: Let’s not even go there and who it was with...
8. Favorite beverage: Red Wine (Smoking Loon or Jackaroo are my favorites)

11. Unkept New Year’s resolutions: Well, due to the bad influence of “others,” I’ve cheated a little on one of my resolutions at a few special events, here lately. I could have been the bad influence though! Ha ha...
12. Sport played competitively: I’m trying tennis, so I can compete.
13. Ideal honeymoon: I’d love to go to Italy, but I’d be happy most anywhere.
14. Average night's sleep: 6-7 hours.
15. Favorite Halloween costume: NASCAR Couple (Moss’ 2004 or 2005?)

Obama or McCain? You Decide.

Barack Obama is the only candidate that has been successful at reaching across party lines in the presidential election. I as well have not had much to say on The Dirt. It is unfortunate that I no longer consider myself in tune with life in the Delta and can no longer comment as such. My free time (what little of it I have) has also been dedicated to following both the presidential election and American Idol like a hawk. That having been said, I am not afraid to admit that my name is on Amy's list of previously sane people who are seriously considering Obama in November. Now, my consideration depends on a lot of future events to fall into place. First and foremost, Obama will have to beat Hillary for the Democratic nomination. If that were to happen, my pick between Obama and McCain would also depend on who each picks for their veep candidate. Editorial: As Predicted, McCain Falls in the Polls

This two-minute campaign ad clearly states Barack Obama's plan to reenergize our economy. Thank God someone is addressing this issue. In an opinion editorial previously published this week, I predicted that the roller coaster ride the economy has been on this week would cause Republican presidential candidate John McCain to fall in the polls. "My prediction: By the end of the week, McCain's stance on the economy will cause his Palin bump in the polls to all but disappear." According to Real Clear Politics , "one of America’s premier independent political web sites," my prediction came true. Currently, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is ahead in the polls by 1.9% , approximately the level by which he was ahead leading into the Democratic and Republican conventions.
