Smoking Ban Drives Up Delta Dirt Readership
The poll featured on the right side of this blog has stirred up some serious traffic for The Delta Dirt. Not since last August have we received so many hits. There have been email campaigns and "get out the vote" efforts to influence our non-scientific poll.
We have also been receiving more comments than ever before. That may be due, in part, to the new comment policy that we instated last week. Under the new policy, it is easier to comment. This is all a good thing for Greenwood and The Dirt.
When this blog was formed, it was meant to be a public forum for whatever the hot button issue of the day was. Today's is clearly the smoking ban. And people have definitely been affected by this ordinance. Not since the last mayoral election have I seen such talk about an issue specifically related to Greenwood politics.
Like it or not, in 20 days, Greenwood will be smoke-free. In the meantime, I assume that the conversation will continue. Feel free to leave comments and encourage everyone who hasn't done so yet to vote in the poll. It is the best guage of public opinion on what has become Greenwood's most devisive issue.
Please note that the poll will close at approximately 6 p.m. this afternoon after one week online. Furthermore, we hope that you will bookmark us and keep coming back long after the smoking ban has come and gone!
