Tonight at the Blue Parrot: Thomas Jackson

Thomas Jackson -- singer/songwriter of the Americana genre and uncle of Fellow Flatlander and WABG "We've Got You Covered" TV personality Christin Jackson -- will entertain at the Blue Parrot tonight at 7 p.m.

Come out to hear a voice and vocal style that is a combination Bob Dylan/Eric Clapton in some electric blues with a touch of classic, Southern-fried rock and roll. Check out his My Space page to preview tunes: http://myspace.com/thomasjackson.

Jackson was born in Tupelo, Miss., and sites Robert Johnson, Marc Bolan, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, Elvis, Nick Drake, Son House, Hank Williams and Electric Light Orchestra (nice touch) as his main influences. Jackson started life as "Michael" but unlike Michael Bolton of "Office Space," later wisely changed his name to "Thomas," avoiding jokes regarding a famous pop singer.
