There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays

This is what my mama's Thanksgiving table centerpiece will look like. Yeah, right.
I just finished my first school test in over two years. Most of our grades come from projects, problem sets, papers and presentations (the four Ps of planning). Today's exam in Urban Spatial Structure was my first of two for this semester and a quick reminder of how much I hate to study. Not that I had totally forgotten.
Nevertheless, the pain and agony of a weekend full of all-nighters is over at last. After all is said and done, I think I did fairly well on the cursed thing, and I am now in the homestretch to coming home for Thanksgiving. I fly in a week from tomorrow, and I can't wait to see my family and friends. And eat turkey and dressing.
I also can't wait to hit up all the old mainstay establishments that were such a large part of my life while in Greenwood. Lusco's, Webster's, The Alluvian, Turnrow Books, the Mockingbird, Fresh Market and Giardina's, here I come! It will be nice to eat some real southern food (as opposed to burgers and pizzas) for a change.
I am also planning on heading to the Egg Bowl in Starkvegas to watch the Mississippi State Bulldogs beat the Ole Miss Rebels. Now, I know that things don't always go according to plan during the Battle for the Golden Egg, but if the Dawgs play anything like they did on Saturday, I don't think the Rebs stand a chance. Just my $.02.
After Thanksgiving, I will be back in Chapel Hill for two weeks and then back again for the entirety of December. I will even be home in time for the Christmas parade. After all, I wouldn't want to miss the Pillow Academy band playing from the back of a flatbed trailer or Santa waving from the bucket of a City of Greenwood fire engine.
