A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall

Raindrops glisten on a window screen in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

During summers in the Delta, rain means everything. Too much, and crops suffer. Not enough, and crops dry out. Just enough, and crops flourish, grass grows green, farmers rejoice, and temperatures cool. Tonight's rain comes at just the right time for summer cotton and corn, yards full of St. Augustine and Bermuda, and temperatures in the 90s. With tonight's rain, the Delta dirt turns into Delta mud. Thank God.
